Apart from the mandated administrative and programming documents, the MPO also coordinates plans to address specific needs as determined by the Policy Committee. Typically consultants are hired to conduct these special studies which include:

 

Downtown Tyler Traffic Study

The Downtown Tyler Traffic Study is traffic operations study for the redesign of several streets in Downtown Tyler to improve multimodal transportation options and accommodate growth for upcoming redevelopment projects.

 

Active Tyler

Active Tyler is a long-range plan focusing on non-vehicular transportation options such as pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure. The purpose is to create a vision for a network for pedestrian and cyclists of all ages and skill sets that can be implemented by various transportation stakeholders.

 

Master Street Plan

The Master Street Plan is a long-range thoroughfare plan that identifies the location and type of roadway facilities that are needed to meet projected long-term growth in the Tyler area for the next 20 to 40 years.

 

Transit Route Study

The Transit Route Study is tool to aid Tyler Transit is providing the best service with the funding available. The study recommends service and facility improvements that would promote expanded use of bus services for work and non-work travel in Tyler.

 

FM 2493 Corridor Study

The FM 2493 "Old Jacksonville Highway" Corridor Study was completed in 2016 to analyze the current conditions, forecast growth along the corridor and recommend improvements to optimize the flow of traffic as the traffic volume increases.
