November 7, 2000 was the last time a day passed without a single death on Texas roadways. Since then, fatalities resulting from vehicle crashes on Texas roadways have numbered almost 67,000. TxDOT has created a repository of resources including videos, shareable social media photos and printable materials to promote safe driving practices to help End The Streak. 

Vision Zero Texas

In May 2019, the Texas Transportation Commission gave the Texas Department of Transportation a goal to cut traffic deaths in half by 2035 and end traffic deaths in Texas by 2050. The Tyler Area MPO supports TxDOT's goal and encourages anyone interested in getting involved to visit the Vision Zero Texas website.
